Funeral service for Dell Thomas Morgan will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 10:00am at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 5:00-7:00pm.
Mrs. Morgan, a native of Spencer, Louisiana was a lifelong resident of Natchitoches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus R. Morgan; parents J.C. and Alma Thomas; sisters Janet Thomas Green and Josephine Hollis; brothers-in-law Wes Green and James Hollis; daughter-in-law Deborah Morgan, great-grandson Matthew Morgan and dear friend Thomas Guin.
She was a retired supervising teacher with the Natchitoches Parish School Board and Northwestern State University. During her career she held membership in Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Kappa Phi, Kappa Kappa Iota, LTA, NEA, and NPTA.
Mrs. Morgan was a member of The Association for the Preservation of Historical Natchitoches and served two years as co-chairman of the Natchitoches Christmas Festival with the late judge Richard Ware. She received The Outstanding Citizenship Award and was nominated twice as Woman of The Year. She was a member of Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons Robert Ray Morgan and Marlin Joe Morgan, grandchildren Dr. Melanie
J. Smith (Mark), Dennis Morgan (Ashley), Meredith Jill Morgan (Tim), Marlin Joe Morgan II (Tiffany); great-grandchildren Ellie, Anna Claire and Madeline Smith, Mackenzie, JT, and Moss Morgan, Dennison and Sawyer Morgan and Hudson Frost; niece Jennifer Green and nephews Thomas and Ursey Hollis.
Also left with Memories of "Dee" are Jeanette Eldrige, Genevive Gordon, Brenda Dinkins and her daughters Karen and Kristen; Brenda Morgan and her daughters Ashli and Alanna; and Kerry Trahan.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Linda Hines and Jerry Bailey for all they have done for our mother.
Pallbearers will be Joe Morgan II, Dennis Morgan, Mike Cimino, Jerry Bailey, Joseph Longlois, Thomas Hollis, Mark Smith and Timothy Frost.
Honorary Pallbearers are Louie Bernard, Jimmy Berry, Ursey Hollis, Buddy Hollis, Rick Harrington, Rodger Williams, and Jim Knecht.
