Della Alvina Moerke Hallow, age 105, of Andover, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1920, in Winthrop, Minnesota, to William and Alvina Moerke. On November 30, 1946, Della married Glenwood J. Hallow in Chicago, Illinois.
Della graduated from St. Cloud State in 1941 with a two-year teaching degree and taught in a one room schoolhouse. During WWII she lived in Chicago, Illinois, and supported the war effort. In 1967, she graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a teaching degree and taught grade school in Virginia, Minnesota, until she retired in 1985. After her retirement she moved to Burnsville, Minnesota, to live with her daughter Susie until she turned 80 and moved to Andover into a Presbyterian Homes Independent living apartment.
Family meant everything to Della and she loved spending time with them.
Della is greatly missed, but there is also great comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
Della is survived by her four daughters Judee McMullen, Jayne (Robert) Knowles, Jean (Charles) Crep, and Suzanne (Robbie) Dimberio, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Della was preceded in death by her husband, Glenwood J. Hallow, her parents William and Alvina Moerke, son Glen J. Hallow, granddaughter Allison Hallow Crep, a great great-granddaughter, four brothers, four sisters, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Presbyterian Homes Farmstead Staff, the Optage Hospice Team and the Presbyterian Homes Waverly Gardens staff.
A private family services will be held in June.
