Kimmi Colie Hallow, 66, peacefully passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, in her beloved beach cottage in Emerald Isle after a short but intense battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 4 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 4 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home as well as immediately following the service.
Kim was raised in La Grange, where she was a member of Wheat Swamp Church and graduated from North Lenoir High School. She worked for H & H Discount Company before becoming the owner and operator of Lou's Beach Bingo. Kim lived much of her adult life in Greenville, where she attended St. Peter Catholic Church, and was a longtime member of the ECU Pirate Club, where she contributed to every capital campaign. She retired with her husband to Emerald Isle three years ago, where she has served as the unofficial mayor of the community.
Kim was a devoted and proud mother and wife. She spent countless hours watching her children play sports and loved every minute of it. She also loved spending time with friends and family on the beach, attending ECU baseball games, and enjoying an espresso martini after dinner. Kim had a generous nature and was always thinking of others. She sent countless cards over the years to friends and family to celebrate the good times and comfort them in the difficult ones. Her loss will be felt by many in the community.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Peggy Colie and her twin brother, Timmi Colie.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John Hallow; son, Johny Hallow and wife, Karson, of Edenton; daughter, Maggie Tilley and husband, Hunter, of Southern Pines; beloved granddogs, Barkley, Bandit, Franklin, and Fox; sister, Gina Colie of La Grange; sister-in-law, Diane Colie, of La Grange;and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ECU Pirate Club at www.ecupirateclub.com.
