Della graduated from J.W. Ligon High School class of 1965. She was employed at Wake Memorial Hospital for a brief time in the early 70's. She pursued better compensation, benefits as well as a retirement plan. Della started employment in 1971 for the Department of Human Resources, Dorothea Dix Hospital. A state government job. Della's job title was Health Care Technician working diligently with mentally ill female patients. After working there for 28 years Della retired in February 1999. During that time Della also worked at night cleaning buildings downtown. She also worked at a Health Care Agency. Della was retired for 26 years.
Della was preceded in death by her parents Maylon and Viola Rowland of Raleigh, NC three brothers Willie Evans, Sylvester Rowland, Herbert Rowland two sisters Mickey Evans, Virginia Rowland all of Raleigh, NC.
Della leaves to cherish her one and only child Mr. Larry C. Rowland of Raleigh, NC two grandchildren, Miss Chanta D. Rowland and Mr. Larry J. Rowland, both of Raleigh, NC ; five great-grandchildren; Seven and Heavan Mitchell; Musiq, Love and Amir Oliver all of Raleigh North Carolina one brother Mr. Maylon B. Rowland Jr. of Bridgeport, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
