Philip Willoughby went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the morning of October 6, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in Smithfield, NC. He went peacefully with his wife by his side.
Philip loved to drive 18 wheelers and after 40+ years of service from Pilot Freight, Big Star, Greenwood Freight; and AAA Cooper where he finally retired.
Philip was a member of Hayes Chapel Christian Church and proudly served as a deacon there for 10 years. He loved the Lord and enjoyed every moment doing for others.
He was a die-hard Carolina Tarheel fan. The Washington Redskins was his favorite NFL team. He loved Nascar and pulled for Mark Martin # 6 every Sunday.
He enjoyed doing yardwork, hanging out on his porch swing, drinking his morning coffee with a honeybun while watching and listening to the birds. More importantly, he treasured being with the love of his life, Georgia and spending time with his family.
Philip is survived by his wife, Georgia, of 61 years; daughters, Sherry Stancil and husband, Tommy, Melanie "Mel" Faison and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Ryan Weathersbee and wife Brittany, Amanda Stancil, Bryan Stancil and wife, Ashley, David Stancil and wife, Kristen; great grandchildren, Paisley, Everly and Carter Weathersbee, Katie and Emily Stancil; siblings, Bobby Willoughby and wife, Gloria, Jeanette Davis and husband, Tommy, Debbie Curington and significant other, Danny; lifelong friend, Wiley Nance; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Willoughby and Rebecca Medlin Willoughby; brothers, Curtis and Craig Willoughby.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Raleigh at 1pm and burial to follow at 2pm with Pastor Bryan Crumpler officiating.
