Della Jean Seim born Della Jean Metcalf on July 15, 1938 to Albert Metcalf and Maybelle Kelio (nee Mounds) was called home on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at the age of 86. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL. She loved old time movies and shows on lifetime, Oxygen and Hallmark such as the Golden Girls, Designing Women and all the reality TV dramas. Staying up late to view these shows with her grandkids was a must. She loved to ride horses when she was in her younger days. She was a member of the junior service club and active in her communities. She grew up in Granite City before moving to Collinsville. She was involved in Boy Scouts with her boys and enjoyed watching them play soccer at the local soccer field. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids participating in sports and school activities. During her working career, she worked at Montgomery Wards, State Bank and Martha Manning Dress Factory. After her career she opened an in home daycare for many years to which many were touched by her caring, sweet nature. Those kids were her world. Once she retired her and her honey, Wessie, moved to Caseyville where they resided in a senior living community. They made dear friends to last a lifetime. They would enjoy sitting in the garden and talking about all things.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother, life partner Wesley Flor, grandchildren Brandon Kelly and Trista Kelly. She is survived by sons Daniel(Kathy) Seim of Collinsville and Brian Nance of Caseyville. Her grandkids Jeremy Seim, Heather(Josh) Owens, Kelsey Seim (Gage Tucker) all of Collinsville and Marsha Kelly and Matt Kelly of Missouri. Her great grandkids Declan and Lillian Owens and Olivia Tucker. She was also blessed with extended grandkids/great grandkids from the Welmon family.
Memorial service to be held at a future date at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville.
