Delmar Gene Bryant Sr.

"How lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." – A.A. Milne Delmar Gene Bryant Sr., 87, of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 29, 2025. Delmar was born June 27, 1938, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Everett and Mavis Maddox Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara Jean Adkins Bryant, and their daughter, Connie Sue Bryant. A devoted Christian, Delmar was a member of Straight Creek Nazarene Church for 67 years. He enjoyed sitting in his chair and reading Gods word. He was a man of many trades and a proud member of Laborers Local 1445, beginning his career with the union on September 24, 1961. His remarkable 64 years of service included contributions to the construction and development of numerous local landmarks such as Greenbo Lake State Lodge, the Greenup Dam, Utility Works, and various city infrastructure projects, including sidewalks for the City of Ashland and work with Randy Sykes Concrete Construction. His biggest accomplishment of all was the love for his family. Those left to cherish his memory include: • His children: o Delmar Bryant Jr. of Ashland o Kimberly (Jim) Hardwick of Summertown, TN o Rita (Jeff) Mays of Ashland • His siblings: o David Bryant of Myrtle Beach, SC o Martha (Jay) McCormick of Ashland o Mary Evans of Ashland o Donna Collins of Myrtle Beach, SC • His beloved grandchildren: Matthew Bustetter (Kendall), Hope Litteral (Joshua), Candace Bryant, Faith Hardwick, Tiffany Pack, Michael Bryant, Cindy Hardwick, and Anthony Mays • His great-grandchildren: Danielle Hardwick, Madison Kersey, Mason Litteral, Bryson Litteral, Jenson Litteral, Lucas Bustetter, Natalie Pack, and Jason Terry A Celebration of Life and Accomplishments will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Biggs officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. "Our fathers Guiding hand will remain on our shoulders forever."
