Terrence Eugene "Terry" Rehmel, 81, of Rush, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters by his side. Born on July 29, 1944, in South Bend, Indiana, Terry was the son of the late Fred Rehmel and LaDonna Powell Rehmel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Todd, a great granddaughter Skyler and a son-in-law Paul Schmidt. Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy and carried that same sense of duty and commitment throughout his life. After his military service, he worked in maintenance at the AK Steel Coke Plant, where he formed many lasting friendships over the years. A man of deep faith, Terry was a former member of Chadwicks Creek Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. During that time, he served faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Music Director. In recent years, he and his family were active members of Lloyd First Baptist Church, where his devotion to the Lord continued to shine. Terry was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Wilma Owens Rehmel, and together they raised five children: • Donna Rehmel Lucas (Anthony) of Rush • Hap Ray "Junior" Kitchen (Vickie) of North Liberty, Indiana • Terri Rhoden (Jeff) of Argillite • Jean Schmidt of Grayson • Anita Kitchen of Burnaugh He is also survived by his two sisters, Darlene "Pete" Dajarnatt, of Sturgis, Michigan, Debbie Gibson of South Bend, In., and a granddaughter he lovingly raised, Kassandra Leadingham. Terry's legacy continues through his 12 grandchildren: Billy, Laura, Kassy, Paul, Josh, Sam, Shannon, Dallas, Samantha, Kelsey, Nick, and Derrick; 29 great-grandchildren: Madison, Brayden, Abby, Savannah, Addison, Kaylee, CJ, JP, Brianna, Lesley, Jaylon, Huner, Aubree, Delilah, Dylan, Trey, Reagan, Benjamin, Jonathan, Liliana, Asher, Luke, Crew, Ramsey, Natalie, Harper, Delaney, Benton, and Bradley; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Easton. A funeral service to honor Terry's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 26 at Lloyd First Baptist Church 87 Church St. Lloyd, Ky., with Brother Rusty Foster and Josh Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25th at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time-of-service Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, with full military honors presented by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post #93. Online condolences may be shared at www.mfhfuneralhome.com.
