Delmar Lee Maize peacefully joined his lord and savior on October 15, 2025. He was born on July 22, 1939, in Freeport, IL to Donald and Emma (Tamling) Maize.
Delmar grew up on the family dairy farm, attended Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church and graduated from Dakota High School. Farming and sports were his interests, playing fast pitch softball in the Freeport leagues during the 60’s and early 70’s. Delmar married Linda Kaderly on January 27, 1961, raising 3 children on the dairy farm.
Survived by his loving wife of over 64 years, Linda; children, Teresa Maize, Kathy (Tim) Fletcher and Michael Maize; grandchildren, Brandi Buss (Aaron Snyder), Brittani (Spencer) Schubach, Zachary Klosa (Anna Welch), Elizabeth Maize and Kyle Maize; great-grandchildren, Cain Snyder and Greyson Schubach; sister, Annabelle Welling and brother, Lyle (Deborah) Maize and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Janet Maize; brothers, Lawrence Maize and Jerry Maize; sisters, Delores Martz, Pauline Sager, and Carol Contardi and Florence Fawver.
A visitation will be held at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL on Tuesday, October 21st from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Delmar’s name to either Winneshiek Evangelical Free Church or FHN Hospice.
