Gloria Lynn Holmes-Maize age 70 Passed away on September 11th 2025. Gloria was born on February 4th, 1955 in Bakersfield Ca to Vinnie C Hendrix and Harvey Lee Holmes Sr of Little Rock Arkansas. Gloria attended both Fremont and McKinley elementary schools, Emerson Middle school and Bakersfield high school. Gloria enjoyed helping and caring for others that is why she chose her career path in health care, being a home health aide for over 20 years. On April 22nd 1980 Gloria married her beloved husband Steve Maize and together they raised three children. Gloria loved family get together her and her sis in-law Eva Mae would be the first to volunteer to throw down in the kitchen. She loved to spoil all of her great grandkids by sneaking them money from out of her pillow case, or going broke at McDonald’s from buying them all happy meals. She enjoyed quality time with her two living children, morning talking with her only daughter and being spoiled by her baby boy. Gloria would wasted no time on spending money on a lottery ticket or two or ever putting her money inside of a slot machine at a casino. She loved to get dolled up by her sister Barbara, so they could go out and hit the dance floor, but when it was time to unwind she would look forward to giving one of her great nieces a dollar or two to take it down and scratch her scalp until she fell asleep. Gloria will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to her family. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Vinnie C. Hendrix and Harvey L Holmes Sr, Her son James Devon Harris Jr, Grandmother Kay Hendrix, Granddaughters Johnisha L. Wright and Jai’liannah Robinson, Grandson Malkhi Starks. Gloria leaves behind to cherish her husband of 45 years Steve, her Children Tanishea Starks and Tyrone Johnson. Siblings Joyce and Johnny Holford, Barbara Holmes , Evelyn Holmes, Harvey and Eva Mae Holmes.11 Grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and host of aunties, Unlc’s Cussin’s nieces, nephews and close friends.
