Henrietta Maize, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. Born in Sparrows Point, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Albany Hetrick and Mary Anderson Hetrick.
Henrietta was best known by her nickname "Hank". She served the Comptrollers Office of the State of Maryland in the General Accounting Department in Annapolis. She later worked at Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover, MD. Hank used her singing ability throughout her life, most notably as a member of the barbershop style Annapolis and Arundelaires choirs and quartets of Sweet Adelines International. She also enjoyed hosting family and friends in Ocean City, MD. The beach was her favorite vacation spot for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Tobin and her husband Thomas, as well as her son, Matthew C. Maize. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Danielle K. Maize and Christine A. McCulley (Nicholas), and a step-grandson, Daniel J. Tobin, Sr. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Izabelle Torres, Zackary Stedding, Roen McCulley, Athena McCulley, Callie McCulley, and Kora McCulley, as well as her step great-grandsons, Gregory Tobin, Brent Tobin, and Daniel Tobin, Jr. Additional survivors include her brother-in-law, Frank Harris of Dundalk, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Mitchell Maize; son, Herbert M. Maize; and sisters, Vivien Edwards, Harriet Grief, Jacqueline Harris, and Norma Nicewonger.
Cremation followed her death. No formal services are planned at this time. Letters of condolence can be sent to the family via www.burbagefuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in care of The Burbage Funeral Home, Snow Hill, MD.
