SUN PRAIRIE—Delores Mae Cefalu died peacefully at home with her family on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on September 28, 1939 to John B. and Delores Franklin in Madison.
Delores was preceded in death by Salvatore Cefalu; her sisters, Ruth Brabant, and Georgia DaSilva; brothers Doad and Dick Franklin. She is survived by her children John B. Franklin (Sylvia), Gina Casanova (Don), Sully Cefalu (Vicki), and Vito Cefalu; adopted sons John Welsh and Brian Culley; grandchildren Heather Etter (Tim), Brittany Casanova (Alex), John Franklin, Jr., Alexis Casanova (Zac), and Savannah Cefalu; and great-grandchildren Gabriella, Alexandria, Hailey, and Sophie Etter. She is further survived by her sister, Betty Meacham, and brother, Bill Franklin. Delores will also be missed by her best fur friend, her beloved dog, Chuckie.
Delores was a devoted mother and best friend to her children and grandchildren. She worked hard her entire life to provide for her family. Delores worked her entire career as a nurse’s aide taking care of the elderly, and in her later years, she worked as a crossing guard for the city of Sun Prairie where she loved spending time with the children. Her family was her entire life, and she especially loved doting over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many sleepovers with her grandchildren and made lasting memories for them. Delores was then blessed with great-grandchildren where “she could be a grandma all over again.”
We love you, and we will miss you, Mom!
A celebration of life will be from 12-3:00 PM on SATURDAY, November 4, 2023 at The Rock Sports Bar and Grille, 920 West Main Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590.
