Funeral services for Mrs. Delores Mayfield Craig, 87, of Price, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2024, in the chapel at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday, November 30, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Craig passed from this life on November 27, 2024, at Hospice Homeplace in Tyler. She was born November 21, 1937, in Haynesville, Louisiana to the late Claude and Lucille (Bowie) Mayfield and spent most of her life in Price. Mrs. Craig graduated from Haynesville High School and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana. She later worked for Carlisle I.S.D. as a cafeteria worker and as a clerk at Walmart in Henderson.
Mrs. Craig was a long-time member of Carlisle Baptist Church, and her family would say she had the patience of Job. She was a talented cook and could fry the best pork chops. Mrs. Craig enjoyed being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother that always loved unconditionally. She had a sense of humor and loved to laugh with the most beautiful smile. She loved all our friends like they were her own children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Joe Craig; her siblings, Claudette Crump, Dick Mayfield, and Shirley Key Bernard; and son-in-law, Michael House.
Survivors include her children, Jody Craig of Angola, LA, Chris Craig and wife Paige of Price, Tracy Craig and wife Beth of Good Springs, Mike Craig and wife Becky of Frost, and Melinda Craig House of Concord; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great- great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Craig of Spring Hill, LA; several nieces and nephews; as well as other family and friends who considered her as Mama, Mamaw, and Mammy.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Joe Craig, Ty Craig, Josh Craig, Tristan Craig, Caleb Craig House, and Colby House. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great-Grandsons: Jacob McGee, Levi McGee, Nathan McGee, Cason Craig, Cade Craig, Connor Craig, Cooper Craig, Anson Davis, Blaine House; Craig and Mayfield Family nephews.
Memorials may be designated to The Hospice of East Texas at 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75705.
Her memory and mind never failed, and we will miss all the wonderful childhood memories she shared with all of us. Our Daddy, Joe was a Drill Instructor in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, but he always told us kids that Mama was the strongest and toughest. She will always be our Marine Mama.
