Delores Humphries Fields, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 15, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky. She was born on November 16, 1945, in Fleming County, Kentucky, and throughout her life, she demonstrated a remarkable spirit of love and resilience.
For 28 years, Delores dedicated herself to her work at the U.S. Shoe factory in Flemingsburg, contributing not only to the success of the company but also to the lives of her coworkers who had the privilege to know her. Her work ethic and commitment were paralleled only by the love she had for her family.
Delores was the proud mother of two daughters, Penny Story and her husband Carl Day Story from Poplar Plains, Kentucky, and Sherry Fields of Ewing, Kentucky. Her daughters brought her immense joy, as did her grandchildren. She cherished her relationships with Brandy Nicole Carpenter of Ewing and Ashley Dixon and her husband of Flemingsburg, who were a constant source of pride and happiness in her life. Delores was also blessed with one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Dyer, who filled her heart with warmth and laughter.
Additionally, she held dear the bond with her nephew, Larry Dion Fields of Hillsboro, Kentucky. Delores also had a special place in her heart for her furry friend, “Sissy,” whose companionship brought her comfort and joy.
Delores is now reunited in eternal rest with her loving husband, Charles Glendon Fields, who preceded her in death on September 20, 2024. Together, their love created a family that will carry on their legacy of kindness and devotion.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 18, 2025 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville, 5197 Elizaville Road, Ewing, Kentucky 41039, with Brother Greg Grimes officiating.
