Delores Beddingfield Ledwell, 94, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at Carolina Care, Cherryville with her family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on May 14, 1930 to the late James and Juanita Beddingfield. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Linda Habitzreiter.
Delores was a dedicated member of Loray Baptist Church for many years. She was a manager at Sears and worked for Gaston Memorial Hospital and later worked in guest services. Delores also worked at Western Sizzlin where she knew everyone. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World – Gastonia Chapter Lodge #382. Delores was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends making many happy memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
She is survived by her children, Steve Ledwell (Julie), Vicki Green (Gary), and Pamela Sowards (Walter); siblings, James Glenn Beddingfield, Willa Mae Dellinger, and Maxine Massey; grandchildren, Bill Herron, David Herron, Robin Wright, Jessica Boulware, Sandra Gulley, and Kelly Peavy; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 12, 2025 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
