Deloris Lucille Bickel

Deloris Lucille Bickel was born in Wayne, MI on March 24, 1936. Deloris passed away in Bad Axe, Michigan on August 28, 2025. She is survived by her husband John Herbert Bickel of 70 Years, her sons: John (Jennifer) Bickel, Adam (Joyce) Bickel, and her daughter, Cynthia (William) Gillespie; along with granddaughters: Melissa Gillespie, Leah Clark, Holly Bickel, Kate Bickel, her grandson: Aaron Bickel, and Great granddaughter, Rhyan Gillespie. She was preceded in death by her daughter Deborah May, her sister Lois Brooker and Grandson Joshua Gillespie. She was 89 years of age at the time of her death. Deloris was the daughter of Seward Brooker and Mildred Brookner and was raised on Columbia Avenue in Wayne, Michigan. She graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1954. On November 13, 1954, Deloris married John Herbert Bickel of Wayne, MI. Together they raised their three children in the suburbs of Lake Orion and Sterling Heights. Deloris enjoyed volunteering at their home church, hosting Bible studies, sewing, crocheting, quilting, floral arranging and gardening. In 1993, Deloris and John moved to Harbor Beach to spend their retirement years. During that time, Deloris and John enjoyed RV'ing around the U.S., boating and fishing in Lake Huron, and volunteering their time with the Assemblies of God MAPS missions program, travelling throughout the United Sates on short-term missions trips helping churches with their building projects and making life-long friends along the way. Deloris will be remembered by many for her frankness, Christmas cookies, goodbye "I love you's" accompanied by bags of cheerios for the trip home, meticulous housekeeping, her gracious hospitality and always making sure her guests were well supplied with home cooking at any time of the day. She welcomed everyone, young and old into her home. Deloris will be missed by her family and friends. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11 am at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Harbor Beach. A luncheon will follow. Arrangements are being handled by the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach. Memorials may be give to the The Anchor, a ministry of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.
