Stephenville Funeral Home - StephenvilleDeloris "Dee" Burton of Arlington, Texas, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning of March 8, at the age of 82 after a two-year illness with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born on November 8, 1943, to Daniel Augustus and Melva Johnson in Dallas, Texas. For many years, Dee served as an Executive Office Manager for American Airlines, Inc., selected by the American Airlines Chairman and CEO to work directly with high-profile customers. Few people know this because Dee was humble, but hundreds of letters and accolades from top business and civic leaders were written about her to former American Airlines CEOs Mr. Crandall, Mr. Carty, and Mr. Arpey. In 2004, Oklahoma Senator Stratton Taylor established a scholarship in her honor at Rogers State University. The scholarship was renewed annually in her name.
Dee married Gwen Darrell Burton in 1963, and together they shared over 62 years of marriage. Dee was loved by many and known for her sense of humor and servant's heart. She was selfless, always putting others' needs first. Dee loved playing golf and, in earlier days, tennis with her many friends. She is survived by her husband, Darrell; her daughter, Melanie; sister-in-law Dee (yes, there are two of them), nieces, nephews and cousin Frances. A Celebration of Life will be held at Shady Valley Country Club on April 9th from 1 to 3 PM. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Please join us to celebrate our favorite, cute and precious strawberry blonde, Dee.
