Deloris Mary Gibbs

Deloris "Chiefy" Gibbs was born on March 6, 1980 in Minneapolis, MN, to Diane and Oliver Gibbs Jr. She passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2024. She was 44 years old.
She spent her free time trying her luck at the casino or playing scratch offs. She loved trying new foods, either eating at restaurants or cooking recipes. Basketball was her favorite sport. She loved to play. She was also a coach for one of the girl's teams for TEAM MN at the Indigenous games in the 2000's. She was also down to lend a helping hand if she was able. She loved and protected ALL of her nieces and nephews like they were her cubs. And if she considered you a friend, she had your back completely. You could count on her for a listening ear. She was so funny and liked to joke back and forth with anyone. One thing we all know about her, she absolutely, wholeheartedly LOVES her bear cubs, Cheveyo and Catori. She was the best the mom she could be. Her babies are her world.
Deloris is survived her son: Cheveyo St. John; daughter: Catori Anderson; mother: Diane Gibbs; sisters: Vanessa Gibbs (George LaFave III), Michelle Benjamin and Micheala Leecy; grandma: Mary Gibbs; uncle: DeWayne Pike; aunts: Carol (Don) Parisien and Audrey Jourdain; her nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Preceded in death by her father: Oliver Gibbs Jr.; grandma: Deloris Pike; grandpa's: Oliver Gibbs Sr., John Pike Sr. and George Humphrey Sr.; aunts: Denise Pike, Ramona Gibbs and Jeanie Gibbs; uncles: John Pike Jr., Garrett Gibbs, Gordy Gibbs, and Sheldon Gibbs
An all-night visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 beginning at 8:00 P.M. at the Aazhoomug Community Center in Sandstone, Minnesota.
A Funeral service for Deloris Gibbs will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. at the Aazhoomug Community Center in Sandstone, Minnesota.
Officiating will be Ombishkebines

Interment will be held at the Stevens Lake Cemetery in Sandstone, Minnesota.
