Deloris E. Megyesi
September 15, 1934 – September 9, 2024
Deloris Edna (Jacklett) Megyesi, a long-time resident at Ideal Senior Living Center in Endicott (NY), passed into the Lord's promises on September 9th, 2024 The late wife of Richard R. Megyesi, Sr., she was a beloved spouse and faithful mother. In recent years, following her husband's passing, she was blessed with a dear friend and life partner, Richard Faust.
A trained and highly skilled horticulturist, Deloris always had a knack for helping things grow and, indeed, grow better. The same thing can be said about her care of all in her life; we have reached for the sun because she so beautifully nurtured and loved us all. The same was true in faith as Deloris was a faithful Christian woman who believed it was a blessing to reflect the love of God in Christ by the power of God's Spirit to all those she met. Having attended several Christian churches throughout her life, it was especially true that while her mindset was on celebrating the gift of God's collected people, she ensured that her Kingdom call kept her interlocked as the Church with all who considered themselves disciples of Christ.
Having been born on September 15th, 1934, in Meadville (PA), Deloris [Delores] grew up in Erie, PA, as the only daughter of her parents, Victor & Mary (Hall) Jacklett. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School (Class of 1952). She later began a journey with her young family from Erie to Hauppauge & Smithtown (Long Island, NY), Cazenovia (NY), Crystal Lake & Schaumberg (IL), and back to the Southern Tier of New York in Johnson City, Maine & Endicott. Following her husband's passing, she settled in Binghamton at the Pierce Creek Orchard, where she loved making honey, growing fruit, and making life sweeter for a whole new batch of friends.
Deloris will be deeply missed, especially her hugs, kisses and smiles. She was a bright spot in our world and always gave such kind gifts to affirm whoever was around her. It is fair and proper, then, to say that God blessed us with the most precious gift in her. Well done, good and faithful servant. All our love always, Mom!
Deloris is survived by her children: Carol Megyesi-Rosales (of Endicott); Rich (& Lisa) Megyesi (of Rotterdam, NY); Mary (& Nino) D'Introno (of Endicott); and John (& Melanie) Megyesi (of Lowell, MA). She is also survived by nine grandchildren (and their spouses), 14 great-grandchildren, and her dear partner, Richard Faust.
A private funeral service was held at Riverside Cemetery, officiated by her son, Rev. Dr. John V. Megyesi. In lieu of flowers, deliveries of flowers are to be shared at your convenience in her memory with all the residents of Ideal Senior Living Center at 600 High Avenue.
