Delphina Apodaca Soto, 95, of Las Cruces, passed away on October 28, 2025, peacefully in her sleep. Delphina was born on June 28, 1930, to Canuto Apodaca & Josefina Guerra in Mesilla, New Mexico. She met Elias Soto of Las Cruces, and they were married. Elias & Delphina had seven children.
Delphina came from a long line of Mesilla families and married into another old Las Cruces family. She was the youngest child of Canuto and lived a relatively quiet life. She was devout Catholic, excellent cook, and always cared deeply for her family. She found joy in music and was a fan of Elvis Presley. Delphina was a cherished matriarch in her family and a beloved friend to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She worked at Sear’s for decades, where she was known as an elegant and kind retailer, until she retired and continued caring for her family.
Delphina was predeceased by her parents, Canuto & Josefina Apodaca, her husband Elias Soto, and her sons Sammy, Tommy & Ronnie Soto, her brother Salvador Apodaca, and her grandsons Steven & Michael Soto. She is also preceded in death by her half-siblings Manuel, Josefina, Joaquin, Miguel, Maria Piaquinta, Gabriel, Lorenzo, Maximo & Jose Apodaca & Jean Soto.
She is survived by her children Steve, Debra, (Jimmy), Cindy, & Barbi (Ryan), her grandchildren Mojo, Sylvia (Israel Sr.), Melissa, Springer, Tommy, Susie (Armando), Eva (Jonathan), Chris, Patrick, Gabriel, Bethany, Flo, Steven (Bea), Corey, Heather (Albert), Adam (Dez), Veronica, Crystal, Jessica, Ceci (Jake), Casi (Mark), Carissa, Vicent (Annalisa), Michael, Enrique, Roni & Nora Hudson and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Son Steve Soto, Grandsons Vincent Galban, Michael Galban, Enrique Galban, Great Grandsons Israel Chávez, & Thomas Arredondo.
Services will be held on November 11, 2025, Visitation at 6 pm, Rosary at 7 pm, funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary on November 12, 2025, at 1 pm followed by burial at Hillcrest and a reception to follow.
