Juan Soto
May 3, 1947 ~ November 1, 2025
Mr. Juan Soto, a beloved father and cherished member of the Laredo community, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 78. A man of many talents, Mr. Soto dedicated himself to various pursuits throughout his life. He found joy in the great outdoors, relishing in activities such as hunting and fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature. An avid collector of antiques, Mr. Soto appreciated the stories behind each piece, and he often shared these treasures with family and friends. Mr. Soto's professional journey was as diverse as his interests. He began his career at City Service Fine Furniture, followed by his time at the Laredo Hardware Company and the Southwest Texas Oilfield. As an entrepreneur, he proudly owned Soto's Key Service and later lent his skills as a locksmith to the United Independent School District. His commitment to public service led him to enter the Police Academy, where he was elected First Constable and Peace Officer for Pct. 2, serving from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Soto concluded his career as a dedicated jailor with the Webb County Sheriff's Department, leaving a legacy of hard work and community service. Mr. Soto's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
His adventurous spirit, warm heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by His parents: Jose and Anita Soto, Mother of his children: Alicia “Dolly” Garcia Soto.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dereck Dean (Linda) Soto, Juan (Becky) Soto Jr., grandchildren: Dereck Dean Soto, Jr., Brandon Lee Soto, Allan Luther Soto, Rebecca Renee Soto, Kimberly Soto, great-grandchildren: Dereck Shakur Soto, Alizaye Rose Soto, Allan Luther Soto Jr., Kendra Gonzalez, Kendrick Gonzalez. siblings: Ramona Granados, Eudelia “Lele” Ortiz, Tomasa Soto, Armando Soto, Severa Duarte, Guadalupe Leal and Esperanza Allan. Also survived by his nephews, nieces other loving relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday evening, November 9 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services, 719 Loring at Cortez.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday morning, November 10, 2025 departing at 9:00 a.m. from Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels to San Jose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.
A private cremation will be held at a later date.
Pallbearers will be: Dereck Dean Soto, Dereck Soto, Jr. Allan Luther Soto, Rebecca Renee Soto, Dennis Dave Garcia, Rogelio Soto, Alejandro Duarte and José Luis Santos.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Armando Soto, Brandon Lee Soto, Perry G. Garcia, Barney D. Garcia and José Luis Santos, Jr.
