Delton Robert Crowe
March 10, 1945 – September 4, 2025
Delton Robert Crowe, 80, of
Vancouver, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 4,
2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 10, 1945, Delton was a proud graduate of Fort Vancouver High School, Class of
1963. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United
States Navy in 1965. Delton served honorably as a Fire Controlman aboard the USS Nicholas
(DD-449), stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, until 1969. Delton's smooth moves and infectious
rhythm on the dance floor at the Pearl Harbor EM club were legendary, creating memories that
his shipmates would fondly recall for years to come.
On November 4, 1967, Delton married the love of his life, Vickie, at the Golden Anchor on
Hickam Air Force Base, HI. They celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage, building a life
filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Delton had a long and dedicated career as an electrician, first at Alcoa from 1972 to 1986, and
later at the Bonneville Power Administration from 1988 until his retirement in 2005. His
commitment to hard work and excellence earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Delton's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vickie; sons Jason
(Megan) and Joel Crowe; and cherished granddaughters Molly and DeziRae Crowe, and great-
grandson Alykai. A devoted husband, proud father, and doting grandfather, Delton never missed
a chance to show his support.
Delton and Vickie shared a love of travel, with some of their most treasured memories coming
from their many trips to Hawaii and two unforgettable trips to Europe. One especially
meaningful journey was to visit Jason and his family while they were stationed overseas. The
family embarked on a memorable driving adventure in a Honda Odyssey from Fischbach,
Germany, to Rome, Italy. Along the way, they stayed at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in
Garmisch, visited the top of the Zugspitze - Germany's highest peak - and explored the canals
of Venice. In Pisa, Delton climbed to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, a moment full of
laughter and awe. The trip concluded in Rome, where the family took in the rich history and
scene of the now infamous hostage incident when Delton briefly "detained" a very confused
bellhop while trying to sort out directions to the hotel... Delton is probably barred from ever
returning to Italy.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Delton was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, New York
Yankees, and University of Washington Huskies. He also found deep fulfillment in coaching
youth basketball, especially his beloved "A-Team," where he mentored young athletes both on
and off the court.
Delton will be remembered for his quick wit, steady presence, and unwavering dedication to his
family, country, and community. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his
kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made to a youth sports organization or veterans'
charity of your choice, in Delton's honor.
