Dena had a personality that could light up a room and lift your spirit with her wisdom and wit. If you met her once, you never forgot her. She was loving and nurturing, yet also protective and unafraid to set you straight when needed. Her caring nature and bubbly personality touched everyone around her.
Over the years, Dena lived a full and colorful life, holding many careers and excelling in all of them. From working in nuclear power, to owning restaurants, bars, and bait-and-tackle shops, she was truly a jack-of-all-trades. No matter what she did, she gave it her all.
She had a passion for cooking, especially Cajun seafood, and she cherished her family and the mountains of western North Carolina, where she felt most at home.
Dena is survived by her beloved son Kyle Todd and her devoted partner of 22 years, Scott Cataleta. She will be remembered as mysterious, kind, nurturing, protective, caring, and endlessly full of life.
