Frederick Charles Husband peacefully passed away on September 17, 2025 at Hospice

Community Care, Jacksonville, Florida after years of battling multiple complications from

exposure to Agent Orange during his service in the Vietnam war. Frederick was born on January

2, 1947 in New Haven, CT to Frederick William and Corrie Etta Husband.

Frederick was a caring and loving husband to his wife Laurie, he was an exceptional father,

grandfather and brother to his two sons Frederick J Husband of Las Vegas, NV and Brandon A

Husband of Wallingford CT; three step children, he called his own, Christopher Bishop, Jessi

(Ricky) Fowler of Saint Augustine, FL, and Joshua (Katrina) Bishop of Keystone Heights, FL;

eight grandchildren: Hannah, Lailah, Tristan, Summer, Rylan, Liam, Jaxson, and Sophia. sister

Coral (Dave) Ctibor of Moultrie, GA and brother Roy (Barbara) Husband of Sebastian, FL.

Frederick's overflowing love for his family, friends, and life will never be forgotten. He was a

true character with a great sense of humor, a big personality, and an even bigger heart. Frederick

is deeply loved by everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

Frederick had a true love of baseball, he graduated from Branford High School in CT where he

was a baseball star and went on to play baseball while attending Qunnipiac College in Hamden

CT. He is a decorated combat veteran of Vietnam and served in the US Army with the Eleventh

Armored Cavalry from 1968 through 1970. He earned a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Army

Commendation Metal and many unit citations for Valor. After returning home from Vietnam, he

earned a Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Criminology from the University of New Haven. In

1986, he went on to earn a second Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling and in 1996 a Masters

Degree in Clinical Social Work. He worked as a police officer in New Haven County, Hamden

from 1976 to 1988, transitioning to a Social Worker position with the State of Connecticut's

Department of Children and Families until 2003 when he moved to Saint Augustine, FL where

he worked with the Florida Department of Children and Families. His last, and most fulfilling

job, was as a Clinical Social Worker with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, high

security juvenile jail in Hastings FL where he worked from 2009 until his retirement in 2017.

In 2013, Frederick re-dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized at Turning Point at Calvary

Church in Saint Augustine. He and his wife are current members of Reverb Church in Saint

Augustine. He was a prolific writer and published many stories about Vietnam, police and

clinical social work. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his

grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He loved gardening, the beaches of Saint

Augustine, painting and occasional fishing with his step-son Christopher. He was a member of

the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Disabled Veterans of America, the American Legion of

Saint Augustine FL, the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the

Tunnel To Towers Association.

A Life Celebration will be held at Turning Point at Calvary Church, 3500 SR 16, Saint

Augustine, FL 32092 on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
