Denese F. Gordon

Denese F. Gordon entered into eternal rest on October 19, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on December 14, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York, to William Leigh and Ellagine Leigh. Denese was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. Known for her infectious smile and joyful spirit, she brought light and warmth to every room she entered. Her love and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.
Denese was the devoted wife of Marlon Ray Gordon and the loving mother of Christopher and Khalil Gordon. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony R. Leigh, and his wife, Lucretia M. Leigh, of Georgia; her sister, Marion Fisher of New Jersey; her goddaughter, Jai'da Emani Broadnax; her supportive in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished co-workers. Denese's genuine spirit and kindness created deep bonds, making everyone she met feel like family.
She had a deep passion for life, and she embraced it to the fullest. Denese loved to travel, explore new places, and experience different cultures. Her adventurous spirit led her to many memorable trips with her loved ones. Shopping was another joy she cherished; she had a keen eye for fashion and loved finding the perfect pieces to make her feel fabulous and confident. Her sense of style and grace was admired by many. Denese was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends. Whether it was hosting gatherings, planning events, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee with her loved ones, she always found ways to connect with those around her. Her friends were like family, and she treasured each relationship, bringing joy, laughter, and encouragement to those she held dear.
A proud graduate of Bullard Haven High School, Denese was a dedicated advocate for the Arthritis and Breast Cancer associations, working tirelessly to raise awareness and support for those affected. Her dedication to community service was exemplified through her exceptional commitment to the WeCare Community Center. As a founding board member, Denese played an instrumental role in its growth and success. She devoted countless hours to supporting programs, organizing events, and ensuring that WeCare's mission to uplift and serve the community was realized. Her passion and unwavering support positively impacted countless lives, and her legacy within WeCare will continue to inspire and guide its work.
Additionally, Denese served for many years on the St. Mark's Daycare Board of Directors, reflecting her deep love for children and families. After 25 years of distinguished service, she retired from the Division of Public Defender Services, where she was known for her compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to justice
justice. Her professional accomplishments and community service were a reflection of her caring and selfless nature.
Denese leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, friendship, and faith. Her memory, filled with the special connections she fostered and the joy she spread, will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. She lived her life with grace, passion, and a heart full of love, and she will be deeply missed. May she rest in eternal peace.
