Denis W. Gluth, 88, of Morgan MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his home in the comfort and care of his daughters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Morgan City Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 4:30 P.M. with a visitation following from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday April 4 at the Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Morgan. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to Mass from 10:00-11:00 at the church on Saturday.

After graduating from Morgan High School, Denis joined the United Stated Air Force and served from 1956-1962, with an honorable discharge. Denis and Eunice owned and operated Gluth Oil Co. in Morgan. Customer service was a priority in their successful business. Denis is remembered as having Bazooka bubble gum and Tootsie pops for the kids on the farm. He later worked for Harvest Land in Morgan.
Family and friends spent many times at the cabin on Big Kandi Lake, with many memories established. The cabin and the lake were their happy place. Denis loved to fish, hunt and be at the lake where he read many Louis L’Amour books.
Denis served as a member and fire chief of the Morgan Fire Department. He also served on the Morgan Public School board. Several St. Michael graduates will remember him as a Don Bosco Coach of the Year eighth grade basketball coach.
Denis’ greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He survives by daughters, Lori (Todd) Hansen of Big Kandi Lake, Lisa (Jeff) Madsen and Lynn (Mark) Madsen of Morgan. Six grandchildren: Samantha (Darren) Tighe, Megan (Tom) Larsen, Alex (Elizabeth) Madsen, Scott (Jenny) Madsen, Alan (Elizabeth) Madsen and Allison (Octavio Cortes) Madsen. Fifteen great grandchildren; Adeline, Eli and Piper Tighe, Evelyn, Nora and Max Larsen, Wesley and Bennett Madsen, Aliza and Preston Madsen, Blakely, Tucker and Brody Madsen, Alexander and William Cortes. Step grandchildren; Tessa Engler, Hannah Christianson, Chloe Hansen and Cayden Hansen and step great grandson; Emmett Engler. Sister, Diane Gluth of Osceola WI.
He is preceded in death by his wife Eunice in April 2017. His parents, Ernest and Margaret Gluth, brothers Virgil and Howard. Sisters; Mary Leopold, Margaret Johnson Kamolz, Norma Gluth and infant June Gluth.
