Denise Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder's Memorial Gardens, Inc. - Gray on Jan. 7, 2026.
Denise Michelle Maupin Jackson, 59, born on May 22, 1966, in the serene hills of Carter County, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Denise was the daughter of the late Rev. Eddie & Janice Stonecipher Maupin.

Denise was a native of Carter County and lived most of her life in the Tri-Cities region. Her academic endeavors at Northeast State Community College were marked by dedication and success as she earned several Associate Degrees.

Throughout her professional life, Denise exemplified the virtues of hard work and leadership in her role as manager at Freddy's in Elizabethton. Her warm demeanor and genuine concern for her colleagues and customers alike made her not just a manager but an integral part of the local fabric.

Her family was the centerpiece of Denise's world. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Jackson, her loving son, Quinten Alexander, and her caring daughter, Jordonna Shockly. Denise was a guiding star to her six grandchildren-Adrianna, Michael, Anissa, Ayden, Aaron, and Addison-fostering in them values of kindness and generosity that will be her lasting legacy. Though her own son, Michael Maupin, preceded her in death, the love she held for him remains an eternal flame in the hearts of those who knew her. Denise's spirit is further cherished by Dorothy Hill, a close friend and sister-in-law who stood by her through life's many chapters.

Denise's interests extended into every interaction, every moment spent with family and friends, and every soul that had the fortune to cross her path. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother were roles she cherished with fervor, devoting herself wholeheartedly to creating a world of love and stability for her family. Her selfless nature was evident in the way she offered help and extended her heart without expectation of return.

With Denise's passing, the world has lost a generous spirit and a pillar of compassion. A memorial ceremony to honor her memory will be from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Kiwanis Park, located at 821 W. Market St., Johnson City, TN. Following the ceremony, the family welcomes everyone to join them for a repast from 12:30 - 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to help with funeral expenses be sent to David Jackson, 2478 Mint Hill Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601.

Snyder's Memorial is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Denise Jackson.
