Phillipsburg resident, Dennis L. Allen passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Kansas Soldier's Home in Fort Dodge, KS at the age of 79.
He was born May 4, 1945 in Phillips County, KS the son of Howard F. and Marjorie J. (Stevens) Allen. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years.
He was united in marriage on September 4, 1964 to Mary Ann Jackson. To this union three children were born: Monica, Jeff, and Mark. The couple later divorced. Later he married Laura Ann Belgrade on January 22, 1993 in Phillipsburg. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2013.
Dennis was also preceded in death by his parents; son Jeff; brother Floyd; and a sister Zona Starky.
Survivors include his daughter Monica Schwerman; son Mark Allen; a sister Susan Parker, all of Phillipsburg; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with family and friends; especially while bowling, dancing, or fishing. He loved watching professional sports, all sports, but football and baseball were his favorite. He was a member of the Community Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 in the Community Church of God in Phillipsburg, with Pastor Scott Eller officiating. The services will be streamed on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, with Military Honors conducted by the United States Navy.
Mr. Allen will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, where the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
