Dennis John Bailey, 75, of Kansas City, MO left this world peacefully on February 8, 2025. Born in Bellmore, NY on July 18, 1949, he was a cherished family man and beloved member of his community. He was of strong Christian faith, and a member of the church, previously known as St. Lukes Presbyterian Church and now known as GlenHaven Church and Academy. Dennis's legacy is one of hard work, generous help to others, strength, warmth, and kindness.

Dennis dedicated many years of his life to his career in trucking, from which he retired to pursue his true passions. Among Dennis’s most cherished roles was that of coach. He found joy and fulfillment coaching his daughter Ellen’s Special Olympics basketball teams alongside his son, John. This experience was not just about teaching the game; Dennis was encouraging and patient, and loved helping young athletes with special needs find confidence and joy through sports, enriching their lives on and off the court. He was a member of the Liberty and Independence Horseshoe Clubs, where he enjoyed both the camaraderie and the challenges of developing his game. He also immensely enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons.

Dennis shared a deep bond with his wife, Pamela, whom he married on June 10, 1990. Together they enjoyed spending time with family, bowling and horseshoes, walking their dogs, and RVing, camping, and traveling, creating countless memories on their journeys throughout the US and, more recently, internationally. Their adventures were filled with laughter, love, and a spirit of discovery.

Dennis never met a stranger. His ability to connect with people and genuine interest in their lives left a lasting impact on those around him. And if someone had a need, he was ready to help. Both through loyal friendship and acts of service, Dennis touched many lives throughout his journey, and his passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who had the privilege to know him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father: Rudolph Dean Bailey; brother: William “Bill” Bailey; and step-father: Bill Masur.

He is survived by his mother: Bernice “Bebe” Audrey Masur (99 years of age); wife: Pamela Kay Bailey; son: John Allen Bailey; daughter: Ellen Faye Bailey; stepdaughter: Penny Marie Baucom Bahtijari; brother: Phil Bailey; sister: Pam Bailey; grandsons Hudson, Jude, Julian, and Armin; brother in law: George Kent Hanson; sister in law: Yvonne Lucille Hanson; and niece: Mariah Wynn, as well as many other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Special Olympics Missouri: 305 Special Olympics Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
