Dennis Bayard, 84, of Lydia, LA, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in New Iberia on March 6, 1941, Dennis worked as a heavy equipment operator and welder for many years. He worked at S & A Contractors, Dual Fabricators, and he retired from Honiron Corporation as a welder. He worked part-time at St. Mary Seafood until 2010, when an accident resulted in the loss of his right hand, after which he retired fully.

He enjoyed riding horses, boat riding, fishing, and hunting. In his younger days he rode in horse shows doing barrel races, buddy barrel pickup and poles. After retiring he looked forward to visiting with family and friends to drink a cup of coffee.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy Landry Bayard; their daughters, Jeanette Hull, Jacqulin (Neal) Naquin, Jeamie (Brian) Romero; daughters-in-law Melissa Bayard and Lisa Buteaux; their grandchildren, Judy Bayard, Drew (Kylie) Romero, Roxie (Wesley) Boudoin, Joshua (Ashley) Naquin, Jayd (Greg) Buteaux, Tiffany (Glenn) Vining, Tayasha (Doug) Gaspard, Destine (Sam) Naquin, and Makayla Naquin; 22 Great grandchildren; 5 Great-great grandchildren; his sister Diane Bayard; and his best friend Leonard "Bot" Buteaux, Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Frenchie" Bayard Sr. and Evelyn Tenney Bayard; brothers, Tillman Tenney, Albert "Al" Bayard Jr, Calvin "Beanie" Bayard, and Harry Bayard; sister, Darlene Conrad; sons, Dennis "Danny Boy" Bayard Jr. and Leonard "Big Red" Buteaux Jr.; and his son-in-law, William Hull.

Dennis will be missed and forever remembered by his family and friends he left behind. In keeping with his wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date.

The Bayard family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Southern Grace Hospice.
