Dennis William Corbridge, 78, passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home on November 10, 2024, after a long, stubborn, “I’m going to live anyway” battle with (AL) Amyloidosis.

Dennis was born on August 6, 1946, in Preston, Idaho, to Earl Franklin and Selma Lundberg Corbridge. They soon relocated to Ogden, Utah, where he attended Taylor Elementary, Central Junior High, and then graduated from Ogden High School in 1964. During his childhood, he delivered newspapers to fund his love of chocolate brownies and his juvenile delinquency of placing strings of firecrackers around the neighborhood, scaring people and sometimes blowing off tree limbs (among other activities).

Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968 completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He then served at Paine Field, Washington, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and Wildwood Air Force Station in Alaska. After working a couple of interim jobs, he eventually settled down as a steelworker in the fabrication department of Trinity Industries (formerly Syro Steel). He retired in 2011 after 38 years.

In 1967, Dennis married Edith Martin, the girl next door from his childhood. They had two children and then divorced after 17 years.

During his life, Dennis enjoyed camping, bowling, playing games (especially Pinochle and Sorry), pickleball, and racing his power wheelchair full speed around the walking track next to his home. However, his true love was always fishing. He could never look at a body of water, no matter how large or small, without wondering how many fish were in it. Almost all his camping trips were devoted to his favorite fishing spots at Current Creek Reservoir, Little Creek Reservoir, Spirit Lake, Whitney Reservoir and several other areas in the High Uinta Mountains. After he was no longer able to go camping or fishing, he enjoyed taking long drives in the mountains to see his fishing spots, as well as very long drives all over Utah to view the autumn foliage.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Selma Corbridge, his brother Eugene (Helen) Corbridge, his sister Marlene (Cecil) Roberts, and his best friend and fishing buddy, Michael Jones. He is survived by his son, Brett, his daughter, Tawnya, his brother (and other fishing buddy), Terry (Carla) Corbridge, as well as several nieces and nephews.

At this time, we would like to offer our sincerest gratitude to the innumerable medical specialists and personnel at Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah who gave Dad the best care possible. Dad participated in the Andromeda Clinical Drug Trial in the pursuit of a successful treatment option and potential cure for such an unkind, relatively rare disease. He went into remission, but was never able to recover from the catastrophic muscle loss which confined him to a wheelchair for the last seven years of his life.

In respect of Dad’s wishes, there will be a brief dedication of his gravesite for family and close friends at the Preston Cemetery in Preston, Idaho, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 am. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
