Dennis Daniels, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 16, 2024, in Longview, Texas, due to complications from COPD and congestive heart failure. Born on December 10, 1948, in Abilene, Texas, Dennis's life journey was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Dennis's life was one of service and commitment. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country with honor and distinction. His time in the service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and integrity that he carried throughout his life. Upon his return to civilian life, Dennis continued to embody the principles he valued so highly, as he built a career that reflected his strong work ethic and his dedication to excellence. Married to the love of his life, Joan, for 54 years, Dennis was a devoted husband. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Amy Thomson and Greg Daniels, who Dennis raised with the same honor and dignity that he approached all aspects of his life. He was a guiding light in their lives, setting an example of kindness, perseverance, and humility. Dennis's role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys. He took immense pleasure in spending time with his granddaughters, Kastina Anderson, Brittany Daniels, Leea Usery, and Lauryn Daniels. He was also blessed to see the next generation grow, with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Usery, Everly Usery, and Kilee Burson. Dennis's legacy of love and wisdom will undoubtedly live on through them. Throughout his life, Dennis was known for his quiet strength and unwavering reliability. His presence was a source of comfort and stability to all who knew him. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words were always thoughtful and meaningful. His dry wit and gentle humor brought smiles to many faces, and his generous spirit touched countless lives. In his community, Dennis was respected and admired. His involvement with various associations and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed made him a valued member of his community. He approached every task, no matter how big or small, with a can-do attitude that inspired those around him. Dennis's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his steadfast wife, Joan; his loving children, Amy and Greg; his adoring granddaughters, Kastina, Brittany, Leea, and Lauryn; and his precious great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Everly, and Kilee. Each of them will hold onto the memories they shared with Dennis, finding solace in the knowledge that his spirit will continue to guide them.
Dennis Daniels lived a life of purpose and meaning. His legacy is one of love, service, and honor-a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Dennis, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will forever be a beacon of light for all who follow in his footsteps. We are grateful for Calvary Baptist Church of Longview, Texas with loving Pastor Brother Donnie Barron and members. Along with Healing Hearts of Longview, Texas and Heart'sWay Hospice of Longview, Texas.
