Dennis F. Diemond

Dennis F. Diemond, 77, of Alpena passed away July 23, 2025 at Medilodge of Hillman.

Dennis was born in Alpena July 21, 1948, to Franklin and Beatrice (St. Charles) Diemond.

Dennis lived his life surrounded by music. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1966. After graduation he attended Northern Michigan University where he pursued his love of music. Following graduation from NMU he joined the U.S. Army where he was a member of the U.S. Army Band. Dennis also attended Hart College of Music at the University of Hartford and was a teacher at North Texas State University. Later he taught as a Professor of Music at the University of Boulder Colorado. Dennis was a music lover, talented musician, and composer. He also had Mr. D Music Studio in Alpena.

Dennis was preceded in death by his sister Barbara J. Cousineau, and brother's in-law, Harry Sumerix, and Ron Benac. He is survived by his sisters, Dolores Sumerix, Karen Wallace, Lucille (Royal) VanAcken, and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visiting hours will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 12pm until the service at 2pm with Rev. John Shipman officiating. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post #2496. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena, or Compassus Hospice. Interment will be at Greely Cemetery in Green Twp.
