It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis "Hippie" Gene Dotson, Sr., who left this world unexpectedly on September 14, 2025, at UofL South Hospital, surrounded by the love of his children.
Born on April 29, 1967, in Williamson, West Virginia, Dennis led a life filled with his passions and pursuits. A man of many talents, he was known for his love of the outdoors, finding joy in working in the garden and nurturing a variety of plants. Dennis possessed a unique knack for fixing things, always having the right tool for any project he undertook. His friends and family will remember him for his warm spirit and love for having a good time, often bringing laughter to those around him.
Dennis "Hippie" is survived by his beloved family, including his son, Dennis Gene Dotson II (Brittany), his daughters, Sasha Dotson (Shane), Chelsea Smith, and Catalina Dotson. He was also a cherished grandfather to Cayden Dotson, Brody Dotson, Bre Ramey, Addison Bowen, Autumn Bowen, Marrena Dotson, and Rox Bowen. Along with One sister, Debbie Steven (Chris). Dennis held dear friendships, notably with a special friend, Christine King. He shared a special bond with Peewee and his babygirl, Sasha who provided love and support throughout their lives and was always there for him.
He joins his late parents, Glen Dotson, Jr. whose legacy of love will forever remain a part of his remembrance and Ruby Hunt.
A visitation honoring Dennis's life will be held on September 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, both to take place at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
As we reflect on Dennis's life, we are grateful for the joy he brought to our lives and the fond memories we will cherish forever.
