In Loving Memory of Dennis Charles Franklin, Sr.
Dennis Charles Franklin, Sr. passed away surrounded by the love of his devoted family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love that touched everyone who knew him.
Born with a heart as big as his smile, Dennis never met a stranger. His gift was connection - whether with family, friends, or someone he'd just met, he made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. To know Dennis was to experience warmth, sincerity, and joy in its purest form.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Sheila Franklin, and their four children: Ebony, Dennis Jr., Dawn, and Aaron. He is also the loving father of an angel baby girl whose memory always remained close to his heart. Dennis leaves behind his brothers Kenny, Michael, Steven, and Gerald, who will cherish the countless memories they shared. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren - Lydia, Elijah, Laila, Fallon, Lillian, and Emelia - who lovingly called him "Papa."
Dennis loved his family fiercely and extended that love to his many nieces and nephews. His compassion and generosity knew no bounds - he cared deeply for everyone around him, always ready to lend a hand, a laugh, or a listening ear.
More than anything, Dennis adored his wife, Sheila. He made sure she felt loved every single day - from preparing her dinner to kissing her every time he passed her. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion, partnership, and tenderness. Through every season of life, Dennis showed what it meant to cherish someone completely. His love for Sheila was steady and true, a reflection of the deep respect and affection he carried for her since the day they met.
One of Dennis's greatest joys was spending time outdoors by his bonfire, dancing to the timeless sounds of Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Sly & The Family Stone. Those moments - the glow of the fire, the rhythm of the music, and the peace of the night - captured the essence of who he was: soulful, vibrant, and full of life. He took immense pride in the "wall" that was built near the highway in his yard. He truly had so much love for his yard and his home.
But more than anything, Dennis will be remembered for the way he loved - deeply, openly, and without condition. He taught his family and friends what true love looks like through his unwavering devotion to his wife Sheila, his children, his grandchildren, and his brothers. His love was his legacy - and it will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
To everyone, he was simply "Papa" - a name that embodied his generous spirit, endless patience, and boundless heart.
His love was his greatest gift, and his light will continue to shine through every life he touched.
