In Loving Memory Of
Dennis Grisham
Dennis Grisham was born on May 25, 1964, in Pendleton Oregon. His parents, Floyd and Carol Grisham, raised Dennis in Portland, Oregon. Dennis helped his family with the disabled kids that they took care of.
He was a cook at Chico Hot Springs Resort for a while before going to school at BSU (Boise State) for wildland firefighting and management. Dennis worked for many years with the Forest Service fighting wildfires. He was active during firestorm and many other large wildfires.
Dennis did some dispatching for the helicopters as well as during some of the bigger fires. He also worked with the Redmond Hotshots and did some repelling and smoke jumping.
He worked with the Ione Fire Department as an EMT, firefighter and a 911 dispatcher. He excelled in his work as a dispatcher both on fires and at 911.
When Dennis was unable to continue working due to medical issues, he enjoyed volunteering to help. He worked at the farmers market and the food bank for a while. He especially enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He was often around town and visiting. He was always on the go.
Dennis had a special relationship with his daughter, Margaret and they often went fishing together. They were planning more trips for this summer.
He enjoyed boating and hunting. Getting his deer this year was a proud moment for him. He also enjoyed seeing his 5 grandkids whenever he could.
Dennis attended church at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Chewelah and the Greater Grace Baptist Church in Arden.
Dennis died peacefully in his home in Chewelah on March 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol and his stepfather, Bob Schurman. He is survived by his sister, Theresa Fery, daughters, Margaret and Dianna, sons, Nathan and Ben, and his five grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Chewelah, Washington on April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
