Robert Brandt Pennow of Boise, Idaho, passed away on November 1, 2025, after courageously battling cancer for six years. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born in Oakland, California, to Louis Jenkins Pennow and Elaine Finlayson on May 23, 1975. He was the youngest of four children. He spent his early years in Lodi, California, where he enjoyed the beauty of the vineyards and local parks. Robert began playing soccer at the age of five and continued for many years.

He attended grade school there until his family moved to Antioch, California, when he was in the second grade. Robert attended Antioch High School, where he lettered four years in varsity baseball. His team won their district championship and was voted the number one team in California by high school coaches. The team received a large trophy and much recognition for this achievement.

Robert also played football and graduated from Antioch High School in June 1994. He then attended Los Medanos College for a year before his family moved to Idaho in August 1995.

Robert went on to attend Boise State University, graduating in May 2000 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While studying, he worked part-time at Sears—a job he often said helped him appreciate the value of his education even more.

Among Robert’s favorite pastimes were fishing and feeding the ducks in Cascade, Idaho, at his brother Louis’s cabin, where he enjoyed spending time with his dad, brother, sister-in-law Michelle, and their family. He loved all of his family and his extended family, and was especially fond of his nephews and niece.  His love of wildlife and the outdoors was an important part of his life. He was also an avid sports fan who loved watching games on TV and attending Boise State University football games, as well as local high school and Optimist league games.

Robert was a hardworking and dedicated man. He continued working until just a few weeks before his passing. He was employed as a contractor for HP, where he developed many close friendships with colleagues who became like extended family. The Pennow family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his coworkers for their kindness and support throughout Robert’s journey.

Robert is survived by his parents, Louis and Elaine Pennow, his sister Denise and her children Zac, Tj, and Kailey, his older brothers, Louis M. Pennow, his wife Michelle and their sons, Louis C. and Devon, and his brother Kevin and his son Brody.

A memorial service will be held on November 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bowman’s Funeral Home, 10254 W Carlton Bay Drive, Garden City, Idaho.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the love, support, and memories shared by friends and family. They also extend their sincere gratitude to the hospice doctors, nurses, and oncologists who cared for Robert with such compassion.
