Dennis R. Hagerman, a beloved figure in the Owensboro community, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by his family, in the comfort of his home, and the exceptional care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Born on July 9, 1945, in Owensboro to the late Melvin and Reba Turner Hagerman, Dennis embodied a life rich in dedication, love, and service to others.
For a quarter of a century, Dennis devoted himself to the family business, Comfort Design Heating and Air, working side by side with his cherished wife, Thelma, and their two boys. Their partnership was not merely a professional endeavor but a testament to their enduring love, built over 53 years of marriage. Together, they faced life's countless challenges with grace and fortitude, laying a robust foundation for their family that will be felt for generations to come.
In 2014, Dennis and Thelma became proud members of Christ Community Church, where they found solace and a shared commitment to serving others. This spiritual journey was a significant component of Dennis’ life, as he touched the hearts of many within the church community with his wife Thelma.
Dennis is preceded in death not only by his beloved wife Thelma in 2024, but also by his parents.
He leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the form of his two sons, Chris (Darlene) Hagerman and Stephen Hagerman, who carry forth the love and dedication he imparted. Additionally, Dennis was the proud grandfather of four amazing grandchildren—Carrie Anne, Jacob, Zander, and Joey Hagerman—each of whom will cherish the fond memories shared with their grandfather.
He was also a dear brother, remembered fondly by Larry Hagerman, Sharon Hagerman, and Gloria McRoberts, who will carry Dennis' spirit in their hearts.
A funeral service honoring the life and legacy of Dennis Hagerman will be held at Christ Community Church on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. Officiated by Myke Templeton and Kurt Hoffman, the service will celebrate a life well-lived.
