Dennis Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whitt Funeral Home & Oakcrest Cremation Center on Feb. 11, 2026.
Dennis James Hall entered this life on Monday, January 27, 1958, in Duncan, Oklahoma and entered eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the OU Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a 3-year long battle with complications from Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Dennis was the oldest of two sons born to James Arnold and Stella Faye (Foster) Hall. His brother Wayne joined the family in July of 1962. Dennis grew up a happy kid full of life and adventure roaming the creek banks and woods. Dennis was very talented and held down many jobs at Halliburton, painting, carpentry work, and he served in the Navy for a couple of years. He went into the real estate business with two friends of his and opened Home Finders. He later went to work for two other real estate businesses, Park Jones and Ira Finley. He really enjoyed real estate and did well in it. He also loved to do prison and jail ministry!
As Dennis grew into a teenager and a young man, he made some bad choices in his life concerning drugs and other bad habits so that he ended up doing 7 years in prison. Sounds bad, but prison turned out to be the trial of life that would send him into the world of God and wanting to be like Jesus. Dennis gave his life to God in prison and even began to run a Faith Pod under the leadership of Chaplain Scott Haynes. After Dennis served his time in prison, he couldn't wait to get home where he could now live for the Lord, not understanding exactly where an ex-con fit into the world of God. In December of 2008, Dennis walked out of prison.
God brought the right people into Dennis's life, and he was allowed to go into the Stephens County Jails, telling the story of his life to help other men try and understand how God could take their life...turn it around... and will even use the worst of the worst...to do His work for Him.
Seven months out of prison, Dennis met who he called the "love of his life," Debbie Stocking, a teller at the Bank of Woodward from Woodward, OK, 3.5 hours away from Duncan. She had just rededicated her life and was wondering how God could use her to help build "God's Kingdom". She had two grown, married sons and 3 grandchildren with one on the way. Dennis had never been married or had any children of his own. This was just what Debbie was looking for...someone who could love her family like their own. And Dennis did! He loved her family, especially his grandkids.
Dennis had a Recovery Group in the back room of a church here in Duncan, it was very successful so we called the Baptists to see if they could help us get a Men's Home started but they thought we should plant a church and experience pastoring first! Dennis and Debbie got married in December 2010, and planned to pastor the church together. So, that is how The Recovery Church began. The church celebrated their 15th year in October of 2025. Dennis and Debbie turned the church over to be pastored by Elvis Wright and the church's wonderful generation of young people. What a legacy Dennis has left behind.
Dennis was preceded in death by both his parents, James Arnold Hall and Stella Faye (Foster) Duckworth.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hall; brother, Wayne Hall; mother-in-law, Rachel Tidmore; stepsons: Joel Stocking and wife Carol, Matthew Stocking and wife Alisia; grandchildren: Shealynn (Stocking) and husband Patrick Coffey, Garett Stocking, Grady Stocking, Knox Stocking; great-grandchildren: Karsyn, Samuel, Brooklynn Coffey; special spiritual son, Matthew Harris; special cousins: Darlene Elston, Kathryn Jones, Barbara Challis, Frankie Ritchy; and many other special friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Sunday, February 15, at The Recovery Church with pastor Elvis Wright officiating. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dennis's name to The Recovery Church, PO Box 2117, Duncan, OK 73534.
