Dennis Hughes Obituary
Dennis C. Hughes, age 82 passed away October 25, 2025, from an extended illness at St Joes Nursing Home. Dennis was born on December 25, 1942, to Charles and Dorothy (Adams) Hughes.
Dennis served in the armed services from November 1962-November 1964 and reserves from November 1978-July 1993. He also worked at Verizon for 28 years. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and fishing.
He is survived by his son Terry (Jodi) Hughes, Freeport; sister Jackie Neebel, Freeport; niece Lori Neebel and her family, Freeport. Grandchildren: Natasha (Jeremy) Glick, Forreston; Justin (Kate Musser) Hughes, Bettendorf Iowa; Sheyania (Matt Gronewold) Hughes, Calamus Iowa; Montana (Collin Bamberg) Hughes, Freeport and Sidney (Juan Rodriguez) Hughes, Freeport. Great Grandchildren: Zakary, Maverick and Asher Glick, Forreston. Former daughter-in-law JerryAnne Jacobs, Forreston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kay Hughes (1999), infant son Patrick Hughes, son Kimberly Hughes and brother-in-law Don Neebel.
The family would like to thank St Joes for the care they had given Dennis for the past 6 years.
Funeral services with military honors will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday October 30, 2025 at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial has been established in his memory.
