Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poway Bernardo Mortuary - Poway on May 24, 2024.
In memory of Dennis Michael Keane, born on April 9, 1962, in
Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Richard and Lynne Keane. We sadly announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn Keane, his brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Anne Keane, his niece, Kelly Anne Keane (and fiancé, Cameron Barquinero), and many special, loved nieces and nephews.
During his early years, Dennis found joy in playing a variety of sports, especially hockey. After high school, Dennis loved studying and understanding the ups and downs of the financial markets. When traveling, Dennis was happy when Bloomberg or CNBC was available on the TV. He moved from Connecticut to
Los Gatos, CA, for a lumber sales position, and then to Columbia, SC for Lynn's teaching position, before settling in
San Diego,CA.
For 25 years, Dennis dedicated himself to sales in several industries, including lumber, finance, oil, and even plants. Many of his cold calls lead to long time friendships because of his desire to understand people and build relationships. Dennis retired early because of a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2005. Despite the challenges, Dennis fought bravely against MS, showing incredible strength. A common theme of his was, "No whining!" Sadly, a severe stroke in July 2023 quickly took much of the functioning that MS was taking away slowly. Dennis fought valiantly for 9 more months before losing his battle.
Dennis got sober at 23 years old and stayed sober for 38 years. He was proud of this and passionate about being available for the next person in need. He had many friends "in the rooms" from each area he lived. Dennis will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had an amazing memory for all kinds of trivia. He loved old movies, a variety of sports, alternative music, history, and politics. He brought laughter and joy to those who knew him. He leaves a huge void in the lives of his wife, brother, extended family, and friends.
Both Dennis and Lynn have participated in MS Challenge Walks for the MS Society in South Carolina and San Diego since 2011. Lynn walks and Dennis cheered the walkers on. Their team is "Keane on a Cure." This year, to honor Dennis' memory, Lynn will participate in the 50-mile Challenge Walk in November. Instead of flowers, we kindly request donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and team "Keane on a Cure" through the following link: https://events.nationalmssociety.org/participant/Lynn-Keane-2024. Your contribution will support research and those affected by multiple sclerosis.
We will have two Celebrations of Life for Dennis. The first celebration will be on Monday, June 17, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in
Stratford, CT at 12:00 pm. The second celebration will be on Saturday, July 20, at the Poway Recovery Center in
Poway, CA and on Zoom. Please contact Lynn Keane at
[email protected] or Glenn Keane at

Dennis Michael Keane will always be remembered for his strength, wit, laughter, and impact on others. May he find eternal peace, and may his memory inspire us all.
