Dennis Lynn Louk passed away on February 25, 2025 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson Iowa. Born on February 10th, 1954 in
Jefferson, Iowa, Dennis's selfless nature, strength, and devotion to his family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Dennis was the son of Weldon and Norma Louk. He attended school in Jefferson and graduated in the class of 1972. Dennis married his high school sweetheart Penny Lane and they were the proud parents of two children, a son Chad, and a daughter Jennifer. Dennis defined the oath of marriage "in sickness and in health" and was Penny's caretaker for over 20 years until she passed away in 2008.
During and immediately after high school, Dennis worked for Rhoades Plumbing and in 1978 went into business for himself and opened Louk Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning. In 1983, he purchased "the shop" on highway 4 in Jefferson where is wife Penny worked full-time as his bookkeeper until she was no longer able to do so.
Dennis was a family man, he poured his heart and soul into his wife, children, and grandchildren. He spent his entire life supporting hopes and dreams and was the guy that was always in his family's corner, no matter what. Dennis especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his time spent tinkering at the shop with Brock, getting the best hugs from Peyton, and playing UNO with Piper who always seemed to have plenty of draw four cards to dish out to him.
Dennis was the guy who never "relaxed," he had to always be doing something whether it be working, fixing something, or starting a new project. His family is left to treasure multiple vehicles he worked so hard to restore. Twice a year in the spring and fall, Dennis went on fishing trips with friends. Lake Erie and Baudette, MN were his most frequented fishing destinations, and he tried out many other places throughout the years. He looked forward to these trips and the stories that one could tell from these trips are endless. Many of these stories reminisced upon during "coffee" time at the plumbing shop.
As we bid farewell to Dennis, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, a dedicated family man who was a teacher of many things. He left a lasting impression on all who met him, often referred to as gruff on the outside with a heart of gold. If you knew him you were lucky, if he was your family you were blessed with the best.
Dennis is survived his children: Jennifer (Heath) Durlam of Ankeny, IA, and Chad (Christine) Louk of
Jefferson, IA; four grandchildren: Brock (Katelynn) Louk, Christian Manyen, Peyton Durlam, and Piper Durlam; siblings: Sharon (Joseph) Barnes of Las Cruces, NM, Craig Louk of
