Dennis Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Feb. 6, 2026.
Dennis Miller, 64, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Portland, Maine. Born on May 25, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, Dennis lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep devotion to those he loved. He was the cherished son of Karen Miller, a devoted and loving mother; his brother William Miller and sister-in-law Judy Miller, as well as their two children.

For over two decades, Dennis shared his life with Allena Pond, his loving partner whom he proudly referred to as his wife. Their relationship was built on mutual respect, laughter, and a deep understanding that transcended words. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and companionship. Dennis also embraced the role of stepfather to Serena Staggs and grandfather to Luis Cruz, Tatyana Cruz Thompson, and Fabian Cruz Thompson Jr. His great-grandson, Dante Cruz, held a special place in his heart. The two shared a unique bond through their mutual love for arts and crafts-often spending hours together immersed in creative projects that brought them both joy.

A man of simple pleasures and deep convictions, Dennis found solace in the quiet moments of life. He had a passion for working on intricate 3D wooden puzzles and building and painting model cars-hobbies that reflected his patience and attention to detail. Though he preferred the comfort of home, Dennis had a profound appreciation for nature. Animals were naturally drawn to him; they sensed the gentleness in him that so many others came to cherish. Evenings at home were often spent beside Allena in their living room-her historical dramas and documentaries filling the daytime airwaves before Dennis would take over with his favorite animated comedies: *Bob's Burgers*, *Family Guy*, and *American Dad*. Their banter and shared laughter were hallmarks of their enduring companionship. Though introverted by nature, Dennis had an exceptional sense of humor that could light up any room.

He was observant and principled-a man who stood firmly against injustice and fiercely protected those he loved. His approval was not given lightly but was deeply valued by those who earned it. He carried himself with quiet dignity and independence, rarely asking for help unless necessary. Yet when it came to family, Dennis never let pride stand in the way of doing what was right or needed. He made countless sacrifices out of love-whether it meant accepting help when it pained him to do so or encouraging Allena to travel far from home to care for their grandchildren. His actions spoke volumes about the depth of his commitment to family.

Dennis valued quality over quantity in all aspects of life-especially relationships. Much like Peaks Island off the coast of Portland-a place he came to love despite his discomfort with crowds-Dennis found beauty in close-knit connections and meaningful experiences. The journey there required him to face personal anxieties: a ferry ride over open water lasting more than fifteen minutes. But for Dennis, the reward was worth it-an experience that became one of his most treasured memories.

A memorial service honoring Dennis's life will be held in Portland, Maine, on May 25, 2026. (time is still being determined) Dennis Miller leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet heroism. He will be remembered not only for the laughter he brought into our lives but also for the strength he showed in silence. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
