Dennis Hartley Musteen

Dennis Hartley Musteen, 85, formerly of Rogers, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2025, in Falls Church, Virginia. Dennis was born April 1, 1940, to the late Lewis Jasper and Ruth Elizabeth (Hartley) Musteen in Rogers. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, he was an active member of both the Downtown and Southside congregations. Dennis graduated from Rogers High School in 1958 and served his country in the United States Air Force as a member of the Air Police. Returning to Rogers, he became the sixth member of the Rogers Police Department, hired as a Patrolman in 1964. He retired in 1992 following a 28-year career that included 12 years as Chief of Police. Dennis continued working in law enforcement with the US Marshal Service at the Federal Courthouse in Fayetteville until a second retirement in 2006. Dennis and Fern Mahurin were married on June 19, 1965 in Rogers and remained happily married until his death. In 2006, they moved to live near their daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Bruce, in Falls Church, Virginia. One of the great joys of his life was living next door to his three granddaughters and helping them to get into mischief.
He is survived by his wife, Fern; son-in-law, Bruce Allison; daughter, Elizabeth; granddaughters, Caroline, Louisa and Eliza, all of Falls Church, Virginia. Sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Charles Thompson of New Braunfels, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of treasured friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 5-7 pm at the Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers. Services with honors by the Rogers Police Department will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Benton County Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Rogers Cemetery, Rogers, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made NW Ark Children's Shelter.
