Obituary of Dennis M. Reddington

Dennis Michael Reddington, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and caring son and brother, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 after a courageous journey with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Dennis was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, and spent a joyful childhood in Arlington alongside his sister Denise. He was the son of Albert and Christine Reddington and a proud graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1972. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Salem State University and later a Master of Science in Business Administration and Management from Lesley University.

Dennis had a successful and meaningful career, beginning at Polaroid in the marketing department, where he worked until 1993. He then joined NYNEX in sales, continuing through several corporate transitions including Bell Atlantic, Verizon, and Idearc. Dennis was a gifted salesperson, known for his genuine nature and deep understanding of his clients' needs. He valued long-term relationships over quick wins, always aiming to offer solutions that would truly benefit others. His integrity and professionalism left a lasting mark on those he worked with.

Dennis was a man of many dimensions. He could light up a room with his charm and charisma, yet he was equally content with a quiet evening at home. He had a deep love for music and rarely passed up the chance to sing karaoke, whether at a restaurant, club, or in his living room-especially during holidays and family gatherings. His favorite songs included Frank Sinatra's "My Way" and "Summer Wind," which he performed with heartfelt joy.

He also found happiness in the simple pleasures of life-tending to his home, maintaining a pristine lawn, and spending time at the table with his grandchildren drawing together, always encouraging and praising their work no matter the outcome.

Dennis was not one for extravagant vacations. He preferred visits to see his parents in Naples, Florida, or enjoying time at home surrounded by loved ones. Despite winning several trips through work for exceeding sales goals, his ideal setting was always with family-sharing a good glass of wine, engaging in lively conversations, and soaking in the joyful chaos that his grandchildren brought into the home.

Dennis shared a lifelong love with his wife, Maria. Their story began in childhood, as their families were close. They began dating in their twenties and built a beautiful life together. Their journey took them through Derry, New Hampshire, and North Kingstown, Rhode Island, before settling in Woburn 11 years ago.

Together, Dennis and Maria raised their children with love, patience, and teamwork. He was a calm, supportive, and devoted father-coaching Andrew's hockey and baseball teams, and cheering from the stands at Lindsay's basketball games. He was immensely proud of the kind, independent adults they've become. As a grandfather, lovingly called "Papa," he lit up whenever his grandchildren entered the room. Even as Alzheimer's progressed, his eyes still sparkled with joy at the sight of them.

Dennis was a devoted son, a loyal and loving brother, a supportive brother-in-law, a caring uncle, and a dear friend to many. The last seven years were challenging as his memory faded, but his family stood by him with unwavering love, compassion, and grace-caring for him at home, just as he would have done for them.

Now, Dennis is at peace. The words he sang so often seem to echo his spirit best:

"And now, the end is near, and so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear, I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full, I traveled each and every highway,
And more, much more than this, I did it my way."

Dennis was truly a special man. He will be remembered always for his calm presence, thoughtful nature, and deep, abiding love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Dennis was the beloved husband of 42 years of Maria (Cowie) Reddington. He was the proud father of Lindsay (Reddington) Latchford of Burlington and Andrew Reddington & his wife Jordan of Fish Hawk, FL. He was the beloved son of Christine (Cheney) Reddington of Woburn, formerly of Arlington and Naples, FL and the late Albert Reddington. He was the proud grandfather of Ryan, Blake, Grayson, Ainsley, & Samantha Latchford and Harlow & Hunter Reddington. He was the caring brother of Denise Masci & her husband Anthony of Arlington. He was the son-in-law of Elaine Cowie of Carlisle, formerly of Burlington. He was also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Sunday, August 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Monday, August 4 at 11 a.m. and will conclude with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn Street, Burlington at Noon.
