Mr. Dennis Paul Smith, age 70, of Ratliff City, Oklahoma, passed away on July 25, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the Ratliff City Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Ratliff City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
Dennis was born on June 10, 1955, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. Billy Paul "B.P." Smith and Mrs. Rosa Nell (England) Smith. He was raised in the Fox and Pruitt City areas, culminating in his graduation from Fox High School in 1973.
On July 21, 1975, Dennis married Pamela Jones in Wichita Falls, Texas. He dedicated much of his professional life to the oilfield and worked as a contract pumper for various companies, and had worked for Felix Wylie, Samedan, Patco, and Armstrong along the way.
Dennis was known for his passion for the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as fishing especially some illegal nighttime fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and scuba diving. He was also an avid collector of guitars, knives, and guns and cherished the time spent with his family. In his younger years, you would find Dennis helping coach his son's peewee football and baseball teams along with James Lewis.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Debbie Smith, a nephew Braden Bush, and a brother-in-law Tony Wilkins. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Pam; children Brandi Burns, Paula Stewart and husband Brandon, and Drew Smith and wife Staci; sister Connie Wilkins; grandchildren Maci Burns, Gunner Burns, Caden Stewart, Matalee Stewart, Audrey Smith, and Jaci Rose Smith; brothers-in-law Kenny Jones, Randy and Cathy Wylie, Mickey and Cheryl Pruitt, Dusty and Julie Pruitt, and Donnie Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will include Johnny Walker, Todd Smith, Ara "Rumpy" Bush, Brandon Stewart, Aaron Pulis, Jimmy Hoggard, and Stacy Lewis. Honorary bearers are John Melton, Dennis Crowdis, Mikey Hale, Caden Stewart, Gunner Burns, and Jude Burton.
Visitation will take place on Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City. The family expresses their gratitude to Twanna Jones and Brandi for their compassionate care.
