Dennis “Raye” Snow, age 90, of Fairborn, OH, passed away, Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born May 27, 1935, in Hebron, KY, the son of the late Frank and Helen Viola (Castor) Snow.
A dedicated service member and community soul, Raye leaves behind a cherished legacy built through years of hard work and commitment to those he loved.
Raye was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably before embarking on a lifelong career that expressed both his passion for food and his love for the open road. After his time in the military, he made a noteworthy transition to the food industry. He then found his calling as a truck driver, spending 25 years with Schneider, where he meticulously logged over a million accident-free miles. Following this remarkable career, Raye continued to serve his community by driving a school bus for Fairborn City Schools, nurturing the next generation with his kindness and dedication.
Beyond his impressive professional achievements, Raye was known for his vibrant personality and deep-rooted connections within his South Point Village neighborhood in Fairborn. He was a beloved figure, recognized for his selfless acts of kindness, such as snow blowing the entire community's sidewalks every winter, a task that encompassed over 100 homes. His neighbors admired him not only for this yearly commitment but for embodying the true essence of a good Christian neighbor. Raye's garden was a testament to his nurturing spirit, having won the beautification award in his community, where his small yard blossomed with beautiful flowers each spring and summer.
Raye had a special bond with his small pekapoo dog, Ollie, who brought joy and companionship into his life. He also relished moments at the Fairborn Family Diner, where he enjoyed meals amidst the laughter and camaraderie of friends and family, further cementing his role as a treasured member of the community.
Above all, Raye took immense pride in his family. He cherished his children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and nurturing their dreams. His greatest pride lay not merely in his professional life but in the love and legacy he created within his family.
In addition to his parents, Raye is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leatha A. (Williams) Snow; two brothers, Donnie Snow, and Paul Snow. He is survived by four dedicated children, Helen (John) Oberer, Christine (Geoff) Moore, Sandra Snow, Patricia Stamps; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Brian), Woody (Jennifer), Nicholas, Nathan (Lydia), Alex, Autumn, Isaac, Luke; two stepdaughters, Pam (Larry) Myers, Tammy (Tom) Wingate; two step grandchildren, Katie, Evan; five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Paetyn, Woody, Wrenley, William; extended family, and dear friends.
