Sonya Elizabeth Coker-Godsey, age 59, of Tipp City, OH, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of home, Saturday, October 25, 2025. She was born June 17, 1966, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Bill Gene and Doris Ann (Baker) Coker.

Sonya leaves behind a legacy characterized by love, warmth, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who hold her memory close to their hearts.

Sonya was a proud mother devoted to taking care of her children and grandchildren, often pouring her heart into cooking meals that brought her family together. Her nurturing spirit allowed her to create an inviting home, filled with laughter, comfort, and delicious recipes that fostered a sense of belonging for all who were fortunate enough to share in her hospitality.

Throughout her life, Sonya enjoyed traveling. She went to various places including Florida, New Hampshire, Tennessee, and Texas, experiencing the beauty and diversity that the world had to offer.

Known affectionately by her nickname “Half-pint,” Sonya possessed a vibrant personality that lit up any room she entered. She had a particular fondness for dogs and enjoyed binge-watching her favorite movies and television shows alongside her children and siblings. Her friends and family often fondly remember her unique preference for executing an "Irish goodbye," gracefully vanishing from gatherings without a word, leaving others to reminisce about her infectious spirit!

In her later years, Sonya returned home to Dayton, where she lived with her brother. Surrounded by the love and care of her siblings, she found great comfort in being at home during her final days. She also found comfort in her Christian faith, becoming saved and sharing her spiritual journey with those around her. This transformation was a source of great joy and a blessing for her family, who were grateful for the peace and love she emanated through her newfound relationship with the Lord.

Sonya Elizabeth Coker-Godsey leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew her. Her kindness, laughter, and loving nature will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. As they navigate this world without her presence, they celebrate the life she lived and the memories they crafted together.

In addition to her parents, Sonya is preceded in death by three siblings, Sharon Williams-Coker, Mike Coker, and Randy Coker. She is survived by four children, Wendy Godsey, Ashley (Lawrence) Asher, Timothy (Kayla Slaven) Godsey, Sharon (Brody Hornsby) Godsey; ten grandchildren, Austin, Brycen, Mikey, Conner, Lawrence Jr., Nevaeh, Westen, Sophia, Adellah, Brodyn, and grandchild number eleven on the way; five siblings, Billy Coker, Nick Coker, Ellen Coker, Jimmy (Rhonda) Conner, Robbin (Darrick) Malone; three fur-babies, Kilo, Milo, Brutus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the New Hope Church, 530 Xenia Avenue, Dayton, OH, 45410.
