Dennis Springer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gray-Parker Funeral Home on Feb. 21, 2026.
Mr. Dennis M. Springer, 80 of The Villages, FL and formerly of Sparrowbush, NY passed peacefully at his home in Nyack, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Tappan Zee Manor in Nyack, NY.

He was born December 14, 1945 in Queens, NY the son of the late Frank Springer and the late Mary Aquila Springer. Dennis lived a life defined by devotion-to his wife, his family, his profession, and his community.

For over 50 years, Dennis was the beloved husband of Carol Springer, sharing a marriage built on love, loyalty, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Together they created a home filled with warmth and lasting memories.

Dennis dedicated more than three decades of service to the Port Jervis City School District, where he made a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues. His commitment to education and his steady presence earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

For more than thirty years, Dennis guided and mentored young athletes as a dedicated coach of both basketball and baseball. Known for his steady leadership, discipline, and unwavering belief in his players, he built programs grounded in teamwork, character, and resilience. His crowning professional achievement came in 1982, when he was honored as New York State Coach of the Year after leading his team to an extraordinary season that culminated in a runner-up finish in the state tournament. Though the championship narrowly eluded them, that remarkable year remains a testament to Dennis's preparation, passion, and ability to inspire excellence in those he led.

Dennis had a lifelong love of golf and could often be found on the course enjoying the game he treasured. He was also a passionate fan of St. John's Red Storm basketball, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.

Dennis will be remembered for his steady guidance, quiet strength, warm smile, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply.

He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

Above all else, Dennis cherished his family. He is lovingly survived by his daughter Kimberly and her husband John Roche; his son Christopher and his wife Joann, along with their children Ryan and Eleanor; and his son Matthew and his wife Valerie, along with their children Oscar and Neve. He was a proud and devoted grandfather who found immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow.

He is further survived by his Sisters-in-law: Barbara Lange and her husband Leonard; Linda Russell and her husband Robert and Claudia Springer

Also several nieces and nephews

Dennis was predeceased by his brothers, Francis Springer and Lawrence Springer
