Dennis Dale Sturgis, 67, of Sylva, North Carolina, passed away on October 30, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas. A proud veteran, he was a torpedo man in the Navy and a huge Chiefs fan. He knew every word to all the episodes of the Andy Griffith show. He loved his Harley Davidson and rode with the Blazing Skeletons.
Dennis was a man with a great intellect and had a wonderful sense of humor, always making people laugh, with a smile that would light up the room.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara, his three children, Dennis, Deanna and her fiancé, Nathan Cox, and Charlie and his wife, Jessica. He is also survived by his sister Kirsten Fitzgerald, and grandchildren Lindsey Adams, Dylan Johnson, Austin Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Hailey Johnson (Max Hoyle), Ethan Johnson, Brittany Sturgis and her fiancé, Brycen Bobbit, Levi Sturgis, Thad Sturgis, Aubrey Sturgis, Ava Sturgis, and Dennis, Jr., Sturgis. He has 2 great grandchildren-Brayden Bobbit, and Mason Hoyle, with 2 great grandchildren on the way and Aunt Peggy, and Uncle Wayne.
He will forever live on in all our hearts.
A visitation will be held 12:00-1:00pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
